Looking back at your preliminary task what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

What Have You Learnt About Technologies From The Process Of Constructing This Product?

Technologies I used:

Mac- This was used to edit and put my videos on my blog. It also was used to do other research and was really useful as it was easy and enjoyable to use.

The Internet- This was used to help me research different genres and themes for my film. It also made the creation of my blog possible. During the research stage of my project the internet was extremley useful as I learnt about different horror films and lots of useful facts which could be put on to my blog and could contribute to my film.

Final Cut Pro- I used this to edit and put together my film. I thought that this was useful because without it I couldn't oif made a film. I also thought that this helped me learn how to shaperly cut a scene and edit it, so that it would go straight on to the next scene. It also taught me how to use different effects which made my video look and sound more scary due to a blurred effect which meant that the film looked supernatural.

Prezi- The prezi taught me how to display different types of work by making it look more appealing. It also helped make my work seem more professional as I used a different type of media to present my work instead of using the same thing again.

Powerpoint- This made my work on my blog look more attractive and appealing to the eye as I used different colours and fonts which could appeal more to different people. I have learnt how to upload a powerpoint on to slideshare which I then put on to my blog. Without powerpoint I think that my blog would be boring and plain because I wouldn't have used any colour or any way of displaying different types of information differently.

In What Ways Does Your Media Product Use, Develop Or Challenge Forms And Conventions Of Real Media Products?

My film used different conventions from current and previous horror films. This is because it helped make the audience know that this would be a stereotypical horror film which they could enjoy as it is similar to other media products.
 Conventions I Used/ Challenged:
  • Damsel In Distress- This is seen through the main female characters because they are panicky and are in danger. This would create a conventional character in a horror film because most women in that genre are often scared and need rescuing by a man. A damsel in distress has been used in many horror films such as A nightmare on Elm street.
  • Home video- For this I have challenged Paranormal Activity 4 as they have used a home video to create their film. I challenged this by using a black and white edit so that the film looks more scary. I also developed the home video used in Paranormal Activity 4 by adding different effects to make the camera blur out or fuss.
  • The Supernatural used- This would be in a conventional horror film because most of the scary moments come from the supernatural and the audiences fear of the unknown. In our film we used a ghost which would link to films such as 'The Woman In Black' and 'Paranormal Activity'. I have used and developed these conventions in a media product because it plays on the audiences fear of the unknown. I have also used these conventions because they worked well and the films became a international success as they have made a number of different Parnanormal Activies.

How Did You Attract/Address Your Audience?

How Did You Attract/Address Your Audience?
Language: The language used was informal which helped attraced my audience as teenagers often use slang and talk informally. This helped attract my audience because they could relate to the language as they use it in everyday life. The language would also appeal more to then because it meets my target market as they would find it interesting and would understand it if they use it everyday. However this wouldn't be suitable for older people because they wouldn't understand some of the modern slang which means that they wouldn't enjoy the movie.

Stereotypes: Stereotypes could attract my target audience because they would be use to a stereotypical horror film and would know what to expect as they have seen it before.

Costumes: The costumes used could attract and address my target market because teenage girls usually copy the lastest trends in fashion which might attract them to see the film, if the costumes are fashionable. The costume would also address my target market because it is a typical teenage outfit an example would be leggings which is mostly wore by teenagers.

Setting: The setting would automatically attract and address my audience because it is set in a school. This would attract my audience because most teenagers are in school and may want to see something fun about it. It could also attract my audience because a conventional horror film isn't usually set in a school which  means that it would be unique to set it in a school.

Actors: The actors could attract and address my audience because they are all females. This could attract my audience because females would attract males and females.
